Technology Curriculum K-3:

K-2 classes meet with the media specialist regularly for technology instruction, with a focus on establishing the foundation for safe and effective use of technology, including lessons on:

  • Computer parts: using the mouse, keyboard, and Windows OS
  • Word processing: document creation, saving, opening, and printing
  • Digital Safety
  • Basic coding, robotics, and automation
  • Basic troubleshooting of common computer errors

The media specialist meets with grade 3 on a project-driven basis, meeting with the same class or grade level frequently for the duration of a technology-based assignment. The curriculum focuses on the use of programs, applications, and the internet for research and inquiry learning, including:

  • Google Apps for Education: Classroom, Docs, Slides, and Sheets
  • Internet research: search strategies, source evaluation, and database resources
  • Digital Citizenship
